The Texas Association of Health Plans is the primary association that leaders in the Texas legislature, the Governor, and various state agencies refer to on matters affecting the ability of health plans to provide access to quality healthcare.

The association provides various benefits including: advocating on behalf of health plans before the legislature and state agencies, providing timely news and updates to members, faciliting communications efforts with the media and the general public. There are three tiers of membership available: operational members, associate members, and affiliate members.

Operational membership is available to HMOs and Insurance Companies licensed by the state of Texas.

Associate membership is available to all other managed care companies, including BHOs and PBMs with applications to be approved by the TAHP Board of Directors. Associate members are not entitled to vote in association matters.

Affiliate membership is available to companies who provide products or services to health plans or who maintain an interest in the healthcare field. Applications for institutional membership must be approved by the TAHP Board of Directors.
