  Dianne Longley

Dianne Longley has worked at the Department of Insurance since 1979.  She began as an information specialist working for the 3-member Board of Insurance, in the Research and Information Services Department.  Her responsibilities in that position involved assisting Board Members with a broad range of insurance issues across all areas of the agency, providing assistance to Legislators and their staff, and coordinating agency activities related to interim legislative studies.

When the Board was abolished under Sunset and the agency reorganized, she continued working with the Public Information Office where she conducted various research activities, developed consumer publications, and responded to press and legislative inquiries.  After focusing primarily on health insurance-related issues while in PIO, she moved to the Life, Health and Licensing Division, where she currently serves as Director of Research and Analysis.  Her primary responsibilities include directing numerous data collection and reporting activities, providing research and data analysis on a variety of health insurance and health care issues, assisting with legislative inquiries and interim studies, and implementation of new legislation.  Until recently, she also served as Director of the State Planning Grant activities, a federal grant program to study the problem of Texans without health insurance.  The SPG program began in 2001 and recently concluded when Congress ended funding for the program.

Dianne received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1979.
