Dr. Krakauer has more than 27 years of experience in medicine, has held senior medical management positions in several major organizations and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology with training at the University of Minnesota, Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and the National Institute of Health, and is Professor of Medicine at Seton Hall University. He is responsible for medical management nationally for Medicare members, including program development and administration. He supervises Health Care Management by Regional Medical Management teams and is responsible for development and nationwide implementation of the complex geriatric case management program, development of care management and care coordination programs in CHF, DM, ESRD, COPD and End of Life for Medicare, and evaluation and implementation of new medical managed opportunities.
Dr. Krakauer is primarily responsible for obtaining the Medicare Chronic Care Improvement Program Contract for Chicago. Under his leadership Aetna became a recognized leader in Geriatric Care Managed and has achieved good cost and quality results in our Medicare population.
